Zovirax is an anti-viral medication used to treat multiple conditions resulting from the herpes virus. The two diseases most commonly associated with this virus are genital herpes, a sexually transmitted disease, and oral herpes, more commonly known as cold sores. Other strains of herpes may affect various regions of the body, including the face, eyes, hair follicles, and even the brain. Other viral strains within the herpes family are responsible for producing both chickenpox and shingles.
Although vaccinations do exist to help prevent the contraction of chickenpox and shingles, there is no cure for any form of the herpes virus once it is in the body. Zovirax can help shorten the duration of painful and often embarrassing visible symptoms of these diseases and minimize the associated discomfort.
Zovirax is available in multiple dosage forms to make it convenient for all different lifestyles, from tablets and capsules to suspension liquid. If systemic treatment is not necessary or desired, a topical cream is also available that can be applied directly to the affected area.
Early treatment can minimize both internal and external effects of this virus. Symptoms can start as a mild tingling at an outbreak site before any lesions are even visible, and the sooner intervention is taken, the greater chance there is of entirely halting that particular outbreak. If left unchecked, however, painful blisters and inflammation will occur, as well as itching, burning, discharge, and possibly fever and headache.
It is important to remember that reduction of symptoms or healing of sores or lesions does not make genital or oral herpes any less contagious. Caution should always be taken, particularly in intimate relationships, as the disease is highly transmittable. Many cases of herpes are asymptomatic and carriers may not be aware of their condition.
There’s no reason to suffer physically, emotionally, or socially from any forms of the herpes virus. Please check with your doctor to see if Zovirax can help make a difference in your life.
